Committing to Change in 5784: Gun Violence
Dear Friends,
As we approach the Jewish New Year, we are reflecting on the work we have done in 5783 and the work we aim to do together in 5784. This upcoming year is crucial for defending our Jewish values by mobilizing Jewish voters and advocating for policy. In 5784, we will lay the groundwork for Democrats to win in 2024.
Among our top priorities is curbing gun violence. In 5784, we re-commit to passing universal background checks, banning assault and semi-automatic weapons, and blocking people with dangerous histories — including those convicted of hate crimes — from possessing or purchasing guns. We know that our advocacy will be successful only if Democrats win in 2024 and end Republican obstruction. Together, we can ensure 5784 is a watershed year in the fight for gun safety.
To learn more about our efforts to curb gun violence, join JDCA and Giffords, with Rep. Jamie Raskin, former Rep. Gabby Giffords, and other special guests on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. ET/11 A.M. PT for a discussion on gun safety and the movement to end gun violence. You don’t want to miss it.
Yesterday, the Biden Administration announced the nomination of former Treasury Secretary and White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to Israel, underscoring the President’s strong and unwavering commitment to the U.S.-Israel relationship. Join us in urging your Senators to confirm Jack Lew as the next U.S. Ambassador to Israel without delay.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support,
Sincerely,
