Rep. Jamie Raskin Joins JDCA for Briefing Friday, September 28th at 2:00 pm EST on “Checks and Balances: The Role of Congress in the Age of Trump”
Each day, we have witnessed developments in Washington that are an affront to our values and democratic institutions. Checks and balances in our government have never been more important, and Republicans in Congress have failed to fully assert its oversight role over the executive since President Trump assumed power. Are we facing a constitutional crisis? How can we ensure our democracy will survive this unprecedented strain?
Join the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) as we explore Checks and Balances: The Role of Congress in the Trump Era on a briefing call this Friday, September 28, at 2:00 PM EST. The discussion will be led by constitutional expert, Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-8), who will discuss how Congress and the Judiciary can reign in presidential abuses of power and answer questions about congressional oversight.
You can submit questions when you register, or submit them by email to [email protected].
Rep. Raskin was elected to the House in 2016 to represent Maryland’s 8th Congressional District. For more than 25 years, Congressman Raskin has been a professor of constitutional law at American University’s Washington College of Law. He authored several books, including the Washington Post best-seller Overruling Democracy: The Supreme Court versus the American People and We the Students: Supreme Court Cases For and About America’s Students.
