We know unequivocally from the findings of the U.S intelligence community that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, tipping the scale in favor of then-candidate Trump. Russian active measures to meddle in the U.S. presidential election included tactics such as the stealing and publication of emails, penetrating the electoral systems of several states, and launching a targeted misinformation campaign via social media.For the past two years, President Trump has blatantly ignored and even contradicted the assessments of his intelligence agencies, including while standing next to the perpetrator of these very attacks, Vladimir Putin.Republicans in Congress have been equally irresponsible in their response, refusing to take measures to counter ongoing Russian interference in our democratic institutions, including through the allocation of meaningful resources to secure our election systems.
