Jewish Dems Tout Diversity of Democratic Field
DETROIT – Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) said tonight following the second Democratic debate that the Democratic field is vibrant, strong, diverse, and will result in a nominee who can defeat Donald Trump. JDCA Executive Director Halie Soifer, who attended both debates and met with party insiders, said the following:
“What we saw these past two nights was diversity in views, policies, and backgrounds, which is one of the biggest strengths of the Democratic Party and truly representative of the American people. We also saw candidates whose policies are rooted in values that are consistent with a majority of American Jews.
“All of the Democratic candidates are committed to providing access to quality, affordable healthcare for all Americans, fighting climate change, defending our communities from the epidemic of gun violence, creating jobs and improving the economy for all Americans, enacting humane immigration reform, and developing a coherent foreign policy that will safeguard our strategic interests and restore American leadership in the world. These are the priorities of Jewish voters.
“President Trump’s policies are a daily assault on our values. Under Trump, Americans have become less secure, and his racist and anti-Semitic statements have threatened not only Jewish and other minority communities, but also our core values. This is why Jewish voters will overwhelmingly support Democrats in 2020.”
