Jewish Dems Respond to Senate Republicans Blocking Witnesses

WASHINGTON – Following the Senate vote where Senate Republicans blocked the inclusion of witnesses from the impeachment trial of President Trump, Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) Executive Director Halie Soifer released the following statement:

“The Senate vote to block key witness testimony in the impeachment trial of President Trump is a betrayal of our democracy, rule of law, and the values we stand for as Jewish Americans. This vote is an unconscionable admission by Senate Republicans that they have no interest in fulfilling their constitutional duty and presiding over a fair and impartial trial. We agree with Speaker Pelosi that you cannot be acquitted if you don’t have a trial, and you can’t have a fair trial without witnesses. History will look back at this moment and judge Republicans harshly for their complicity in the president’s wrongdoing.”
