Jewish Dems React to Senate Republicans’ Acquittal of President Trump
WASHINGTON – Following the Senate vote where Republicans voted to acquit President Trump of his obvious wrongdoing, Jewish Democratic Council of America Executive Director Halie Soifer released the following statement.
“We are deeply disappointed that Republican Senators, with the lone courageous exception of Senator Mitt Romney, voted to acquit President Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress despite overwhelming evidence of wrongdoing and guilt.
“We thank Speaker Pelosi and Senator Schumer for their leadership, and the House impeachment managers, in particular Chairmen Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler, for presenting a compelling case against President Trump to the American people. Senate Republicans paid them no heed, but history surely will.
“Trump is acquitted, but he is not exonerated. The American people see this for the sham trial that it was, and the American people will render their verdict at the polls in November.
“Justice is a bedrock of our Jewish and American values and our democracy, and we are organizing to elect candidates who share our values in November. Our voice, values, and votes matter. Join us.”
