Jewish Dems Endorse in Five More Key Senate and House Races Across the Country
Endorsees include Senate challengers, House incumbents and House candidates
WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) today announced five endorsements in races for the House and Senate where candidates and incumbents are supporting the priorities of Jewish voters, including a commitment to defend democracy against Republican extremism. This round of endorsements, which brings JDCA’s total 2022 endorsements to 96, includes key House and Senate candidates such as Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, and Jewish Democratic leaders in Congress such as Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10).
Recent developments – including the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, the January 6 Committee’s public hearings, and a spate of mass shootings – have demonstrated the stark contrast between Democrats and extremist Republicans in this election cycle. JDCA is the only national organization targeting Jewish voters in the states and districts where they can have the greatest impact on the outcome of elections in support of Democrats who share its values.
According to JDCA CEO Halie Soifer, “Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson has demonstrated time and again – whether through his fake electors scheme or by blocking the confirmation of the US envoy to combat antisemitism – that he is a threat to democracy and other priorities of Jewish voters. That’s why Jewish Dems are proud to support Lt. Gov Barnes in his bid to defeat Sen. Johnson this November. After hosting the candidate forum in the Wisconsin Democratic primary, we are confident Lt. Gov Barnes shares the values of Jewish voters. Likewise, in competitive House races in New Hampshire, Illinois and Maryland, Jewish Dems are supporting candidates who support the priorities of Jewish Americans: addressing gun violence, ensuring abortion access, defending democracy, combating extremism, protecting the environment, and ensuring a strong U.S.-Israel relationship.”
