Jewish Dems Denounce Trump’s Undercutting of Affirmative Action

Today, the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) issued the following statement following the announcement by the Trump administration that it would rescind policy guidelines encouraging the use of affirmative action in college and university admissions:

JDCA condemns the Trump administration for its decision to rescind existing guidance to colleges and universities promoting the use of race to achieve diversity in school admissions. President Trump has carried out a full-scale attack on ongoing efforts to foster racial, economic and social justice throughout the country, and this decision is consistent with Trump’s agenda to exacerbate racial and ethnic divides.  Given past instances of racial discrimination, JDCA supports affirmative action programs that seek to expand opportunities for people of color and other minorities. America is stronger because of its rich tapestry of racial, ethnic, and religious diversity, and JDCA believes this diversity should be reflected in the composition of our colleges and universities.
