Jewish Dems Announce New Endorsements Across 13 States
WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) today announced its latest round of endorsements. For the first time in the 2022 cycle, JDCA is endorsing Senate challengers and gubernatorial candidates, in addition to more House incumbents who share Jewish and Democratic values. These leaders have demonstrated their commitment to the priorities of the majority of Jewish voters, including the importance of defending democracy against ongoing Republican-led attacks. This is the third round of 2022 endorsements for JDCA, following its initial endorsements for House and Senate candidates. JDCA will continue to make endorsements each month between now and the midterm election.
In addition to eight key incumbent U.S. Representatives and four incumbent governors, JDCA is supporting three candidates for U.S. Senate challenging Republican incumbents and two strong gubernatorial candidates. In each of these 17 races, Jewish voters will play a critical role in helping to determine the outcome of the race, and JDCA is uniquely positioned to mobilize Jewish voters in support of shared priorities and values.
“As Republicans threaten our democracy, Democrats in the House, Senate, and state Capitols are providing a critical line of defense. These 17 candidates are all defenders of democracy, supporters of Israel, and aligned with our Jewish and Democratic values on a wide range of issues. They are also all competing in races that are crucial to cementing and expanding Democratic majorities in Congress and protecting against Republican legislatures which threaten voting rights and abortion access. JDCA refuses to endorse any candidate who voted against certifying the results of the 2020 election. We’re proud to support candidates who are both pro-Israel and pro-democracy, and we unequivocally reject the false choice that Jewish voters have to choose between the two,” said JDCA CEO Halie Soifer.
“Highly consequential elections in districts or states with sizable Jewish populations present an opportunity for JDCA to engage, mobilize and get out the vote in support of our values. By taking a multifaceted approach that includes digital advertising and grassroots voter outreach and engagement from members of our state chapters, we expect JDCA will make a difference in this critical election cycle,” according to JDCA Chair Ron Klein. “This group of candidates will be key to our success in defending our Democratic majorities in the midterms.”
