Jewish Democrats Focus on Winning the Senate, House and White House in 2020
WASHINGTON — With the Democratic presidential primary contest still underway, the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) is renewing its focus on key races for Congress in 2020 with new endorsements of six House candidates and 14 Senate candidates. Its previous 25 House endorsements can be found here.
In total, JDCA has endorsed candidates in nearly 50 House and Senate races. In addition to these endorsements, JDCA will continue to expand its campaign efforts by mobilizing Jewish voters through state and local chapters, including on college campuses, and by leveraging the influence and expertise of its Board of Directors and Next Generation Leadership Council. JDCA’s on-the-ground power in target states will energize Jewish voters in support of Democratic candidates running for the House, Senate, and eventually, the Democratic presidential nominee.
“JDCA is mobilizing voters in 2020 in support of House and Senate candidates who share our values. The Senate is in play in 2020 and we’re going to do everything we can to ensure Democrats win back the White House and Senate, and strengthen their control of the House. The policies and rhetoric of Donald Trump and the Republican Party he has hijacked are antithetical to Jewish values. This is why Democrats will win in 2020 with overwhelming support from Jewish voters,” said JDCA Executive Director Halie Soifer.
JDCA’s ongoing political endorsements are just one part of its 2020 strategy, which includes grassroots organizing efforts in swing states and battleground races, including newly-formed state and local chapters and JDCA’s College Campus Initiative. JDCA has also released two hard-hitting ads calling President Trump the biggest threat to American Jews.
JDCA’s efforts are driven by data on the Jewish vote. A new poll released last week by the non-partisan Jewish Electorate Institute found that Jewish voters are overwhelmingly Democrats, are voting largely on domestic policy issues, and will support the Democratic presidential candidate by more than a two-to-one margin over President Trump.
