JDCA statement on the State of the Union Address

Listening to the State of the Union address tonight, most Americans might have wondered what country the president was describing. The rosy descriptions we heard during this speech bear no resemblance to the realities of this administration, which has attacked the foundations of our nation’s democracy, threatened the health care of millions, stoked racial and ethnic resentment, diminished America’s role in the world and enacted massive tax cuts for the wealthy and large corporations.

Despite the president’s claims, most Americans have not felt the benefits of economic growth, but rather the dread of living under an erratic, reckless and destructive administration. Come November, Americans will face a clear choice between the agenda of this failed president, and the promising alternative offered by Democrats.

We will work without stop to make sure that Democrats retake Congress and set this country on a different, more promising path.
