JDCA Condemns Republican Political Stunt on Yemen Bill

WASHINGTON, DC – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) strongly condemned House Republicans’ latest attempts to politicize support for Israel and opposition to the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement. In response to House Republican attempts to add language about BDS to an unrelated bill on Yemen, Executive Director Halie Soifer issued the following statement:

“Today, House Republicans continued efforts to politicize support for Israel by attempting to insert language opposing BDS into an unrelated bill related to Yemen. The purpose of this Republican-led charade was to prevent the bill from going forward, and to create a division on issues related to Israel. Support for Israel has historically been – and should remain –bipartisan, and we reject ongoing attempts by the president and Republicans in Congress to politicize the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
