One Year Since Dobbs

Tomorrow marks one year since the horrific Dobbs decision that overturned the right to an abortion enshrined in Roe v. Wade.

We remain outraged that the U.S. Supreme Court broke with established precedent and stripped away 50 years of fundamental rights. This was an unconscionable and politically-driven overstep by right-wing justices — three of whom were appointed by a twice-impeached, twice-indicted former president — and an affront to our Jewish American values.

Over the past year, 14 states have instituted full bans on abortion, and many leading Republican presidential candidates have indicated support for a national abortion ban. These egregious attacks on reproductive rights exemplify the danger posed by MAGA extremism to our rights, democracy, and values.

According to a poll from Pew Research last year, 83% of Jewish Americans believe abortion should be legal. Jewish voters view abortion access as a political imperative, which has made them more motivated to vote. JDCA is determined to meet this perilous moment at the ballot box with an unequivocal commitment to only support candidates who support reproductive healthcare.

We are confident that the overwhelming majority of Jewish voters will continue to find their political home in the Democratic Party because Democrats align with the Jewish community on every key issue, including access to reproductive healthcare and abortion services. As the political home and voice of Jewish voters in support of Democrats who share our core values, JDCA is fighting for our shared future and the defense of our rights. We hope you will join us today.
