New Jersey
Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-Sen)
Andy Kim was first elected to Congress in 2018, narrowly beating a Republican incumbent. He is the first Democratic member of Congress of Korean descent, a former national security advisor for President Obama, and a foreign affairs officer with the Department of State. Rep. Kim is the son of Korean immigrants who came here seeking the American dream. Rep. Kim first decided to run for office in part to protect the Affordable Care Act and continues to fight for its protection and expansion in Congress. He has prioritized policies that support working families and strengthen national and economic security. Kim is remembered by so many across the country as the Congressman solemnly helping to clean up the Capitol after the insurrection.
Rep. Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05)
Rep. Josh Gottheimer was first elected in 2015, unseating a Republican. While in Congress, he has distinguished himself as a bipartisan leader who believes in working together across party lines to find common ground to get things done. His priorities in Congress include defending Israel, lowering taxes, securing affordable healthcare, and protecting the environment. Since October 7, he has been a leading voice in advocating for the defeat of Hamas and calling for the return of hostages. JDCA endorsed Rep. Gottheimer in 2018, 2020, and 2022.
Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07)
Representative Tom Malinowski is running for reelection in the New Jersey 7th Congressional District. Before joining Congress, Rep. Malinowski served as Assistant Secretary for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor in the Obama administration, where he helped lead the global fight to defend the human rights of women and LGBTQ+ people, to protect workers in our trade agreements, to safeguard our privacy on the internet, to root out corruption, and to stand up to dictators like Putin and Kim Jong-Un. Rep. Malinowski won his first election in 2018, flipping his district from red to blue. In Congress, Rep. Malinowski has continued to focus on expanding human rights through U.S. foreign policy and is striving to protect the Affordable Care Act and patient protection. Rep. Malinowski supports a two-state solution and opposes West Bank settlement expansion and unilateral annexation. He has also called on the Republican Party to do more to root out white nationalism and denounce racist and anti-Semitic comments made by Republicans in Congress because he understands that only by guaranteeing human rights for all Americans can we be safe as a country and as a democracy.
Rep. Donald Payne Jr. (NJ-10)
Representative Donald Payne Jr. has served in Congress since 2012, following the death of his father who previously held this seat. Prior, Rep. Payne served in various capacities as a Democratic activist and on the Newark City Council. Among his current legislative priorities are protecting and expanding voting rights and ensuring access to quality education. He has spoken out strongly against antisemitism on several occasions and frequently ties antisemitism into his broader understanding of white supremacy. Rep. Payne is a strong Democratic voice in Congress and we are proud to endorse him.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11)
Rep. Mikie Sherrill was first elected in 2018. Prior to her election, she served in the U.S. Navy, as a federal prosecutor, and as a Russian policy officer working on the implementation of our nuclear treaty obligations. She is strong on many of JDCA’s priorities, particularly on healthcare and climate change. Her priorities include lowering the cost of living for New Jersey families, protecting our national security, and honoring and defending our military veterans and families. In Congress, she has cosponsored numerous pieces of pro-Israel legislation, including bills to support normalization with Arab countries and condemning BDS. JDCA endorsed Rep. Sherrill in 2018, 2020, and 2022.
