Nebraska
Tony Vargas (NE-02)
Tony Vargas, a son of working-class Peruvian immigrants, has served as a state senator of Nebraska since 2016. Previously, he was a teacher and school board member. In the state legislature, he championed efforts to strengthen public schools, improve access to health care, encourage technology and innovation, and improve consumer protections. As part of his fight to improve health care, Vargas fought to expand Medicaid through the Affordable Care Act. In Congress, Vargas hopes to build on the ACA by creating a public option and lowering the costs of prescription drug prices. JDCA endorsed Vargas in 2022 and endorse him again in 2024 as he runs to unseat a Republican and defend our values.
