Defending Democracy

Living up to our Democratic principles means ensuring every American has the right to vote, and that our election security is not compromised by foreign actors. We support efforts to strengthen election security measures in order to safeguard against foreign interference and ensure Americans have faith and confidence in the electoral process. We should be invested in making it easier — not harder — for Americans to cast their ballots. All states should adopt or expand early voting, vote by mail, same-day registration and automatic registration programs. We oppose deliberate and subtle forms of voter suppression, such as the adoption of so-called “Voter ID” laws in many states. We support fighting voter suppression against minority communities, and supporting the restoration of voting rights for former felons.
