i24 News: Biden to seek diplomatic re-engagement with Iran if elected, aide says

August 6, 2020

If elected into the White House in November 2020, Joe Biden will seek to restore the US diplomatic engagement with Iran, his aide said, Jerusalem Post reports.

The newspaper cited Aaron Keyak, the Jewish engagement director with Joe Biden’s campaign, as saying that as president, Biden will aim to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.

The efforts on this front “will include re-engaging Iran in a diplomatic solution,” he clarified, as per the JPost, saying a Biden administration will look for ways to bring Iran back to compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal.

He also lashed out at US President Donald Trump for pulling out of the deal, decrying Trump’s policy on Tehran as “disastrous.”

“Joe Biden will hold Iran accountable for its destabilizing activities throughout the region,” Keyak added, speaking at an online event hosted by the Jewish Democratic Council of America.
