Wisconsin Jewish Chronicle: Jewish Democrats launch local chapter
A chapter of the Jewish Democratic Council of America has launched in the Milwaukee area.
The national Council was launched in 2017 “to serve as the voice of Jewish Democrats,” according to the group. The Council endorses candidates and is creating a college campus fellows program.
The local co-chairs are Linda Frank, Marvin Tick and Richard Schwalb. They held an informational luncheon on Jan. 23, 2020, with about 30 people in attendance. Attendees heard from Halie Soifer, the Council’s national executive director and a former senior policy advisor within the Obama Administration.
In addition to its stance on social issues like opposing bigotry and gun violence, the Council favors aid to Israel and a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
