White House reaffirms ironclad commitment to Israel

May 14, 2024

Today marks Yom Haatzmaut, Israel’s 76th Independence Day. As we reaffirm our support of Israel’s right to exist as an independent, Jewish state – in security and peace – we also renew our commitment to bringing all the hostages home and electing Democrats who will share our values, including support of Israel. Today, President Biden moved forward an additional $1 billion arms package for Israel.

Yesterday, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan very clearly articulated President Biden’s policy as it relates to Israel, asserting that “No president has stood stronger with Israel than Joe Biden.” National Security Advisor Sullivan articulated ten clear points, outlining President Biden’s support for Israel

The current political landscape focuses on fear rather than facts. And when that happens, it is important to take a moment to go beyond the misleading headlines and disinformation to listen to exactly what the President believes.

President Biden’s record of support for Israel is clear. As National Security Advisor Sullivan said yesterday:

“He was the first president to visit Israel in wartime. He is protecting Israel at the UN. He mobilized a coalition to directly defend Israel against an Iranian attack. He led the bipartisan effort to pass a supplemental that ensures Israel’s defense and military edge for years to come.

“The United States has sent a massive amount of military assistance to Israel to defend itself against all threats, including Hamas, Hizballah, and Iran and its other proxies. We are continuing to send military assistance, and we will ensure that Israel receives the full amount provided in the supplemental.

“His [Biden’s] commitment to Israel is ironclad. Ironclad doesn’t mean you never disagree; it means you work through your disagreements – as only a true friend can do. That’s exactly what we have done for the past seven months – and that’s what we will keep doing.”

On this Yom Haatzmaut, we ask you to join us in helping elect Democrats who will stand by Israel. One such Democrat is Westchester County Executive George Latimer, running against incumbent Rep. Jamal Bowman in New York’s June primary to represent New York’s 16th Congressional District, which is nearly 13% Jewish.

Sign up to join our phone banks and help get Jewish voters out to vote in support of George Latimer. Together, we can elect Democrats who share our values.

Thank you for your continued support in this critically important election year.

Warmly,

Halie Soifer
