Vice President Harris Speaks to Jewish Dems

May 24, 2023

This week, JDCA leaders convened in Washington, DC, to lay the groundwork for the next election and chart the path for ensuring Democratic wins in 2024. We received a surprise guest this morning, my former boss Vice President Kamala Harris, a champion of our values in the White House and a committed friend of the Jewish community. I was thrilled to introduce the Vice President with some personal stories, and Jewish Dems were honored that she recognized the vital role of JDCA, congratulated us on our successful mobilization of Jewish voters in 2022, and emphasized the importance of “the work of this organization and all of you.” Watch and share Vice President Harris’s powerful remarks to Jewish Dems about her commitment to our community and combating antisemitism.

We were also honored to be joined by Democratic leaders, including House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi, whom we honored with our Defender of Democracy Award for her leadership in protecting democracy. Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar also joined us and highlighted the importance of the critical advocacy and political work of Jewish Dems.

Leader Jeffries thanked Jewish Dems and discussed the Democratic Party’s commitment to combating antisemitism and fighting for our democracy. He said, “We have to fight for our democracy. That’s what the Jewish Democratic Council of America is all about. That’s why your efforts, your heart, your soul, your intellect, your friendship, your support, your leadership is so significant.”

Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, a leader in the Biden administration’s fight against antisemitism, also joined us and praised JDCA for getting out the Jewish vote ahead of 2024, “the most important election of our lifetime.” We are deeply appreciative of the Second Gentleman’s support of our work and his leadership in the White House, especially in combating antisemitism. Read more about our leadership convening in The ForwardJewish InsiderJTA, and the Times of Israel.

This week confirmed that the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) is the most influential Jewish Democratic advocacy and political organization in the country. JDCA is the political home and voice of Jewish voters in support of Democrats who share our core values. We advocate for policy, educate and mobilize Jewish voters, and elect Democrats. If you are ready to take action and advocate for the issues Jewish voters care about most — including defending our democracy, community, and fundamental rights from extremist threats.

As the Vice President told us, “Let us not throw up our hands when we can roll up our sleeves.” We’re rolling up our sleeves to win the battle for the soul of our nation by ensuring the President and Vice President remain in the White House and that Democrats win the House and Senate in 2024.

We’re incredibly proud of the critically important work of JDCA and hope you all will join us.
