Values to Victory in 2020

December 6, 2019

Friends,

As we approach the 2020 election, the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) is laying the groundwork for a significant voter mobilization effort to help Democrats take back the Senate and the White House, while increasing our majority in the House of Representatives. We’re proud of JDCA’s work advocating for Jewish and Democratic values, and supporting elected officials and candidates who align with those values. As the only national Jewish Democratic organization, we know it’s our values that will lead us to victory in 2020.

Last month, the JDCA National Board and JDCA’s newly-created Next Generation Leadership Council held a retreat in Washington, D.C. that covered a range of critically important issues driving the Jewish vote in the 2020 election. Such issues included combatting the rise of anti-Semitism, protecting our communities from the epidemic of gun violence, defending our democracy and democratic institutions, and ensuring a strong and smart foreign policy, including meaningful U.S. support of Israel. We at JDCA have an ironclad commitment to our values, and ensuring a future for our children and grandchildren in which our values are reflected in those we elect to represent us in government.

At the retreat, we discussed policy priorities with members of Congress, including Reps. Ted Deutch (FL), Max Rose (NY), Brad Schneider (IL), Elissa Slotkin (MI), and David Trone (MD). We also heard from House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD), who reiterated the importance of JDCA and his confidence that, with our help, we can turn our country around and elect a president committed to the values that we cherish. Additionally, we heard from Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD), the House’s leading authority on constitutional issues and member of the Judiciary Committee, about the impeachment process and the importance of ensuring that justice is served. The ongoing impeachment proceedings in the House have underscored that no one is above the law, including the president.

We don’t know if the Senate will convict Trump once he is impeached by the House, but we do know this, we will do all we can to preserve the Democratic House majority and elect a Democratic president and a Democratic Senate.

Elections matter. Were it not for Democratic victories in the 2018 midterm election, there would be no check on President Trump in Congress. In 2020, it’s up to all of us to check him out of office.

Join our mobilization efforts and our leaders in Congress in this fight for our values and the principles of democracy, progress, and equality. Stand proudly with Jewish Dems today and help us win in 2020 by taking the following steps:
