Trump & Santos = Today’s GOP
This week was defined by egregious examples of Republican abuse of power, corruption, and lies. From Donald Trump being found liable for sexual abuse and defamation, to George Santos’s arrest on 13 federal charges, and Trump’s dangerous lies on CNN, Republican extremism has been on full display.
On Tuesday, Trump was ordered to pay $5 million to E. Jean Carroll for sexual abuse and defamation. When asked about the verdict on CNN’s town hall, he said it was a “fake story,” which is similar to how he described his overwhelming electoral defeat in 2020. Nevertheless, Republicans refuse to condemn Trump — who is currently the leader of the Republican Party and its leading candidate for president in 2024.
Also this week, “Jew-ish” Congressman George Santos was charged by federal prosecutors with 13 counts of wire fraud, money laundering, stealing public funds and lying on federal disclosure forms. Unsurprisingly, Republican leadership has responded with silence, while Santos remains in the House of Representatives. We’ve been calling on Santos to resign since December and encourage you to join us — the people of New York’s 3rd Congressional District deserve better.
Trump and Santos are far from the only dangerous members of the Republican Party. Also this week, Republican Senator Tommy Tuberville (AL) said that he views white nationalists in the military as nothing more than “Americans.” Republicans are saying the quiet part out loud — dangerous extremists have found their political home in the GOP, where they have been embraced at nearly every level.
