This Moment Requires Strength & Moral Clarity
This moment of rising antisemitism and hate targeting American Jews requires strength and leadership at the highest levels. This should not be a partisan issue, but we’re encouraging Democrats to meet the moment.
In this regard, we’re proud to have played a role in ensuring that the head of our party, Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), Ken Martin, made it clear that phrases like ‘globalize the intifada’ have no place in the Democratic Party.
Yesterday, Chair Martin issued an incredibly strong statement condemning this phrase, which conveyed strength and moral clarity on this important issue. In a statement published in Jewish Insider, Chair Martin said:
“The Democratic Party is a big tent. It means we are a political home for people from every background who believe in justice, equality, dignity and opportunity for all. It means we champion those who have been marginalized — including Jewish Americans, who have joined with others in the big tent to help shape the values of this party. But being a big tent doesn’t mean there’s space for hate.
Let me be clear, at a time of rising antisemitism, there’s no place for rhetoric that can be seen as a call to violence. There is no room in the Democratic Party for hate speech or incitement to violence and calls to ‘globalize the intifada.’ That is not progressive. That is not justice. And let me be clear: there is no room in the Democratic Party for that rhetoric or any rhetoric that can be seen as a green light to terror.”

We’re grateful to Chair Martin for his moral clarity on this issue and will continue to work with Democrats to ensure they consistently and clearly echo this sentiment, rhetoric, and view. JDCA’s role is not just to ensure that Jewish voters continue to support Democrats, but also to ensure that Democrats continue to align with the vast majority of Jewish voters. And we’re doing just that.
Ensuring our security and safety with Democrats’ clear condemnations of antisemitism is a critical piece of JDCA’s mission, and we’re proud to do this work in partnership with Democratic leaders and all of you.
In solidarity,
