đź’™ The Only Thing More Powerful Than Hate is Love
This weekend reminded us that we have not lost joy and hope. From watching the triumph of athletes fulfilling their dreams at the Olympics and speaking out for what is right, to anti-ICE protesters taking a stand at the Super Bowl, to Bad Bunny’s unifying halftime performance, we saw the best of America on display.
But the athletes and performers weren’t the only ones making us proud. Democrats had another huge win and overperformance in a solidly red district, this time in Louisiana.
Democrats pulled off a shocking victory in a state House seat in Louisiana this weekend, winning an election in a district where Donald Trump overwhelmingly won in 2024. Democrat Chasity Verret Martinez defeated her Republican opponent 62% to 38%. That’s a 37-point swing from the 2024 election.
This win is consistent with a growing nationwide trend of Democrats overperforming and winning in deeply red districts since November 2024. Just last weekend in Texas, Democrats overwhelmingly won a state Senate seat in a district that Trump carried by 17 points in 2024. Americans are rejecting MAGA extremism and embracing leaders who offer competence, compassion, and stability – not corruption, violence, and chaos. And as a result, Democrats have won more than 50 elections in the past 15 months, including in red districts and states.
At JDCA, we’re not just watching this momentum – we’re building on it. This Friday, we released a powerful new ad airing this week on MS NOW and CNN. The ad highlights images of the deadly violence in Minnesota, quotes podcaster Joe Rogan asking if we’ve become “the Gestapo,” and delivers a strong message that “it’s gone too far,” a view that is shared by two-thirds of American voters.
Momentum matters. Wins matter. And right now, Democrats are winning where nobody expected, paving the way to take back control of the House and Senate in the midterms this November.
Let’s keep it going!
