The Big Ugly Bill – One Vote Away from Becoming Law
Yesterday, Republicans in the Senate passed Trump’s Big Ugly Bill – one of the most dangerous budgets in American history. It raises healthcare costs and drastically cuts crucial services for tens of millions of Americans, including access to healthcare and food assistance, in order to make permanent tax cuts for corporations and billionaires. These tax cuts would add $3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade, according to the Congressional Budget Office.
The bill now goes back to the House, where there is one final chance to prevent it from becoming law. Take action with us today and encourage your member of Congress to vote NO on the bill, which includes Medicaid cuts that will strip nearly 15 million Americans of their healthcare coverage. According to a recent poll, 88% of American Jewish voters oppose these devastating cuts to Medicaid. This is the largest cut to healthcare in American history, and this is the last day to try to stop it.
TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE TO VOTE NO
Among other things, this bill will:
- Strip healthcare from nearly 15 million Americans with a cut of approximately $1 trillion to Medicaid, which will raise healthcare costs for most Americans;
- Cut SNAP or food assistance benefits by approximately $300 billion, making it harder for millions of Americans to afford groceries and ensure food security;
- Severely roll back clean energy tax credits, which fight climate change, make energy more affordable for Americans, and create jobs;
- Cut taxes on the ultra-wealthy, exponentially increasing the deficit for years to come; and
- Add $3 trillion to the national debt.
Write to your representative and tell them Jewish Americans are against the Big Ugly Bill.
