REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM IS A JEWISH VALUE

Jewish law makes clear that the life of the mother supersedes all else and 83% of Jewish Americans believe abortion should be legal. This is why we are members of the coalition celebrating Repro Shabbat. Our friends at the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) host Repro Shabbat annually on the Shabbat when we read Parshat Mishpatim because it contains the verses commonly used as the foundation of Judaism’s approach to reproductive health, rights, and justice. BRIEFING: THE FUTURE OF ISRAEL’S DEMOCRACY

Join Jewish Dems from across the country on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at 1 PM ET/10 AM PT for a special briefing on the future of Israel’s democracy with former U.S. Ambassadors to Israel Daniel Kurtzer (2001-2005) and Daniel Shapiro (2011-2017). We are proud that Ambassador Kurtzer is a member of the JDCA Board. The conversation will be moderated by author, former First Lady Michelle Obama’s speechwriter, and JDCA New Leadership Council Member Sarah Hurwitz.

MEET THE MEMBER: REP. JAMIE RASKIN

For this week’s installment of our Meet the Members series, we are recognizing someone who embodies the title ‘Defender of Democracy.’ From his leadership in the aftermath of the January 6th insurrection to his work combating Republican extremism as the new Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, Congressman Jamie Raskin (MD-08) continues to defend the future of our democracy.

In November 2021, we were proud to honor Rep. Raskin with our first-ever Defender of Democracy Award, a recognition of the distinguished leadership that he continues to demonstrate today. When we asked Rep.
