TAKE ACTION: Stop Republican Election Rigging
Tomorrow, the House will vote on the GOP’s newest voter suppression and election manipulation effort, and we, the people, must stop them. Tell Congress to vote no and stop Republicans from rigging elections.
The deceptively named “SAVE America Act” could block millions of Americans from voting. This anti-democratic bill specifically targets women, minorities, and college students, three groups that often vote for Democrats.
Tell Congress: Vote no on the GOP’s attempt to manipulate our elections.
This Republican bill would require prospective voters to “show their papers” by providing documents like a passport or birth certificate to prove their citizenship in person when registering to vote. At least 21.3 million voters (about 9% of American citizens of voting age) lack easy access to these documents, and it would make registration significantly harder for the 69 million married women who took their spouse’s last name.
This bill also aims to restrict by-mail voter registration, mandate voter roll purges, and force states to submit registration information to the Department of Homeland Security. All of these efforts could result in the removal of lawfully registered voters from voter rolls.
Trump has said that he wants to “take over” elections in several states. Steve Bannon said ICE will surround polling places in November – and the White House said they “can’t guarantee” it won’t happen.
This is all part of a Republican plan to manipulate – and possibly steal – the upcoming midterm election.
