Reflecting on October 7
One year after the deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust, we continue to mourn the more than 1,500 people in Israel murdered, raped, abducted, and violently assaulted by Hamas terrorists. For the hostage families, including American citizens, the attack on October 7 marked the beginning of an ongoing nightmare, as more than 100 innocents remain in Hamas captivity in Gaza. We join the families in calling for the immediate release of the hostages.
Jewish voters stand with Israel and deeply appreciate the leadership and support of President Biden and Vice President Harris over the course of the past year and throughout their time in office. Their solidarity with the Jewish people in the days after October 7 provided light amid darkness and continues today, including with the unprecedented levels of military assistance provided to ensure Israel’s security and right to self-defense. We admire and support the efforts of the Biden-Harris White House to reach an agreement that finally brings the remaining hostages home, ends the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, ensures Israel’s safety and security, and leads to lasting stability in the region.
Today, amid the holiest time on the Jewish calendar, we pause to mourn the lives lost and commit to ensuring their memories remain a blessing for all of us.
We invite you to join us at 12:00 p.m. ET today to mourn those whose lives have been lost, demand the speedy return of the remaining hostages, and discuss the latest developments in the region. RSVP now.
In solidarity,
Sam Crystal,
Chief of Staff, Jewish Democratic Council of America
