Over 32,000 Jewish Women for Kamala, including Barbra Streisand, Rain on Donald Trump’s Parade
WASHINGTON – In a testament to overwhelming Jewish voter engagement in support of Vice President Harris in this election, more than 32,000 Jewish women from across the country attended Thursday night’s 75-minute virtual Jewish Women for Kamala call featuring Barbra Streisand, Susie Essman, Emmy Rossum, Mandana Dayani, Shaina Taub, Hannah Bronfman, Judy Gold, and other Jewish celebrities, elected officials, activists, and influencers.
The event was co-hosted by Jewish Women for Kamala, the JWFK Facebook group, in partnership with the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA)’s PAC, JDCA PAC. Julie Zebrak, JDCA New Leadership Council Member, spearheaded the event with many other Jewish women leaders and Democratic activists, who outlined five calls to action to mobilize voters in support of the Harris-Walz ticket.
In her remarks, Barbra Streisand underscored the stakes of the election, saying, “It’s been said that Jewish women are known to speak out and tell you what they think, and I’m one of them.” She continued, “I want a president who believes we can do anything if we work together and that’s why I’m thrilled to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
Susie Essman of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fame knew her audience: “Kamala will protect your right to control your own bodies. She hears us. She knows us. And yes, Kamala laughs! She is no fabisiner punim. This is a woman filled with life force and humanity.” She urged listeners to “be the badass Jewesses I know you are” and donate and volunteer to work to help Kamala Harris and Tim Walz win in November.
Jewish Women for Kamala Chair and incoming Chair of JDCA Susie Stern said, “The evening was filled with inspiring stories of how Kamala Harris has stood with Jewish women and Israel and will continue to do so as the next President of the United States. Especially inspiring was Alana Zeitchik, whose six family members were taken hostage on October 7. Zeitchik conveyed that Vice President Harris had been a constant source of support in their quest to obtain their freedom.”
JDCA New Leadership Council member Julie Zebrak added, “I am proud of the Biden-Harris administration’s historic record of support for Israel, and I have no doubt that support will continue just as robustly under the Harris-Walz administration. As the overwhelming response to last night’s call showed, the majority of Jewish voters feel the same.”
The event comes just ahead of Jewish Dems events and expert panel conversations on the sidelines of next week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Jewish Democrats will proudly tout that Vice President Harris and Governor Walz stand strongly with Jewish Americans, similar to the new JDCA PAC ad released this week.
