Jewish Dems Welcome Passage of Iron Dome Funding
WASHINGTON – After the House of Representatives passed funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system, Jewish Democratic Council of America (Jewish Dems, JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement:
Today’s passage of funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system is a critical step in support of Israel’s security and self-defense, fulfilling President Biden’s pledge to provide this essential aid earlier this year. We are pleased to see nearly unanimous support among Democrats for this bill, which enjoyed bipartisan support.
We reject all efforts to turn support for Israel into a political wedge issue. We were also disappointed this vote was necessary because Republicans unanimously opposed the continuing resolution earlier this week, which originally included this aid to Israel, and have opposed aid to Israel three times in the FY22 appropriations process alone.
We call on the Senate to ensure passage of the bill in the near-term, and are confident it will have strong Democratic support.
