Jewish Dems Welcome Inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris
WASHINGTON – Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement following the swearing-in of Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States:
“Today represents a new dawn for America. With Joe Biden taking office as the 46th President of the United States after winning more votes than any presidential candidate in history, and as Kamala Harris becomes the first woman, first Black, and first South Asian person to serve as Vice President, our country is moving forward. We support the Biden administration’s effort to heal and move America from darkness to light, from lies to truth, and from hatred to decency.
“Along with so many other committed organizations and 80 million Americans, JDCA worked hard for this moment, mobilizing nearly 2 million Jewish voters in 14 key states and nearly 100,000 Jewish voters in Georgia to take back the White House and Senate. We are joined by Jewish Democrats across the country in celebrating this moment, as well as the historic swearing-in of the first Jewish and first Black Senators from Georgia later today.
“As we celebrate, we also know that President Biden alone cannot restore the soul of America, and we commit to a national effort to mobilize and advocate in support of his policy agenda. Few presidents in our history have entered office facing greater challenges than President Biden, yet none have been better prepared to meet those challenges. We are confident that under the leadership of President Biden and Vice President Harris, the United States will once again live up to its ideals and values cherished by Jewish Americans.”
Earlier today, Halie published an op-ed, “Restoring the Soul of America will Take Time.” For more information or to speak with Halie Soifer, contact [email protected].
