Jewish Dems Welcome Biden-Bennett Meeting
WASHINGTON – Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement of support for strong U.S.-Israel relations in advance of President Joe Biden’s meeting today with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett:
“Today’s meeting between President Biden and Prime Minister Bennett is the first meeting between a new U.S. president and Israeli Prime Minister in more than a decade. It ushers in a new chapter for the United States and Israel, and reaffirms the strength of our historic and mutually beneficial bilateral relationship.
“President Biden entered office with a longer and stronger record of support for Israel than any of his predecessors, and has been steadfast in his support for Israel’s security and right to self-defense. We strongly supported President Biden’s efforts to help end the conflict between Israel and Hamas earlier this year, as well as his commitment to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense capacity, including – and extending beyond – the $3.8 billion in annual U.S. military assistance to Israel.
“The United States and Israel share a common goal of preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapons capability. With the future of a renewed Iran nuclear agreement remaining – at best – uncertain, we welcome close collaboration between the U.S. and Israel in ensuring Iran does not acquire a nuclear weapon.
“JDCA is proud that the Democratic Party shares President Biden’s deep commitment to Israel’s security and to a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and looks forward to a continued strengthening of this vital bilateral relationship in the months and years to come.”
