Jewish Dems Urge Senate to Confirm Dilawar Syed as Deputy Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration

WASHINGTON – Amid bad faith attempts by Republicans to smear Dilawar Syed, President Biden’s nominee to serve as deputy administrator U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement:

“Jewish Dems thoroughly reject the baseless attacks against Dilawar Syed and strongly support his nomination to serve as deputy administrator of SBA. In addition to being eminently qualified for this role, Mr. Syed is a friend and ally of the Jewish community. 

“Unfortunately, Mr. Syed is the victim of a Republican smear campaign focused on his affiliation with Emgage, a Muslim-American civic engagement organization. Claims that Mr. Syed or Emgage are antisemitic are patently false. 

“We cannot allow biased smears to prevent highly-qualified and dedicated public servants like Mr. Syed from serving in our government. JDCA stands with Mr. Syed and the numerous Jewish organizations and leaders voicing support for his nomination, and urges the Senate to swiftly support his confirmation.”
