Jewish Dems Support Iron Dome Funding
WASHINGTON — Halie Soifer, CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), released the following statement on funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system:
The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) strongly supports full funding for the Iron Dome missile defense system and President Biden’s calls to replenish the system following the May 2021 conflict between Israel and Hamas. We welcome Democratic House Appropriators’ commitment to include this funding in the FY22 defense bill, which will likely pass on a bipartisan basis later this year. Democrats, with the full support of JDCA, will ensure that the Iron Dome system is fully funded.
JDCA rejects Republican attempts to politicize U.S. support of Israel with empty procedural gimmicks, such as the motion to recommit (MTR). With or without the Iron Dome funding, every House Republican refused to support the continuing resolution. This isn’t the first time – Republicans have voted against U.S. aid to Israel three times thus far in the FY22 appropriations process.
The Democratic record is clear on support for the U.S.-Israel defense relationship, and JDCA is confident that Israel will receive the Iron Dome replenishment as initiated and committed to by the Biden administration.
