Jewish Dems Slam Trump on Iran

“Trump has diminished U.S. credibility, alienated our allies, threatened war crimes and the elimination of an entire civilization, and destabilized the U.S. and global economies”

WASHINGTON – Following President Trump’s threat of war crimes and pledge that “a whole civilization will die,” Halie Soifer, CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), released the below statement:

“The only consistencies in Donald Trump’s policy toward Iran are empty bluster, hypocrisy, and vacillation. In a matter of hours, he went from threatening the annihilation of more than 93 million people to claiming he will bring about a ‘golden age’ of peace with a tenuous deal that reads like an Iranian wish list.

“At the beginning of this war, Donald Trump pledged to prevent Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, destroy its missile capability, and bring about regime change. Today, it’s painfully clear that he’s failed to meet any of these objectives. Instead, he has diminished U.S. credibility, alienated our allies, threatened war crimes and the elimination of an entire civilization, and destabilized the U.S. and global economies. As strong supporters of Israel, we are also deeply concerned about Israel’s security, as it continues to face serious threats from Iran and its proxies.

“Trump’s hypocrisy is most glaring when it comes to Iran’s nuclear program, which he falsely claimed was ‘obliterated’ in June and pledged to end at the end of February. Today, it appears he’s prepared to accept a nuclear agreement deal that is far more favorable to the Iranians than the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). When it comes to Trump and Iran, it’s all smoke and mirrors, empty bluster and capitulation, amid a stunning failure that has cost thirteen American lives and tens of billions of taxpayer dollars. We will not accept any agreement that fails to cut off Iran’s path to a nuclear weapon, which must also be approved by Congress.”

“This terrifying Iran episode has made the stakes of the 2026 midterm elections even more clear, and Jewish Americans are eager to place guardrails on this increasingly dangerous president by electing Democrats. Republicans in Congress have abdicated their duty to hold a dangerous president accountable, and most Jewish voters will hold them accountable at the ballot box. A Democratic majority in Congress will provide a critical check on Donald Trump’s power, and JDCA is committed to ensuring that happens in November.”
