Jewish Dems Respond to SCOTUS Leak with Key Endorsements
WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), the national voice of Jewish Democrats, today endorsed eleven incumbent House Democrats for re-election. Each of these elected officials works to advance the top priorities of Jewish voters in Congress – including defending democracy and reproductive rights – and represent districts with Jewish populations that can impact the outcome of competitive elections.
Immediately following news of the Supreme Court considering overturning Roe v. Wade, JDCA is doubling down on efforts to mobilize Jewish voters in support of Democrats in key races across the country. JDCA and JDCA PAC are utilizing the same proven model for influencing elections it deployed in past elections – exclusively targeting Jewish voters through digital advertising expenditures and direct voter engagement in support of its endorsed candidates.
“As the leaked draft of a Supreme Court opinion striking down abortion rights demonstrates, the stakes in this election year could not be higher. From threats to our democracy to assaults on our basic rights, Republicans are demonstrating just how out of touch they are with the vast majority of Jewish Americans, three-quarters of whom are concerned about the prospects of the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade. Jewish Dems will work to re-elect these Democratic incumbents who share our Jewish and Democratic values, starting with – and extending beyond – support for democracy, reproductive rights and justice,” said JDCA CEO Halie Soifer.
This group of endorsees, which brings JDCA’s total number of 2022 endorsements to 59, play a key role in Congress supporting issues of importance to Jewish voters such as defending democracy, combating climate change, preventing gun violence, supporting the U.S.-Israel relationship, and combating the rise of antisemitism.
“These endorsed representatives come from different backgrounds and serve in different states, but what they share is a commitment to advocating on behalf of the issues most important to Jewish voters,” said JDCA Chair Ron Klein. “At such a critical moment, JDCA is redoubling our efforts to reach Jewish voters and win close elections. Each of these 11 Representatives are powerful voices in Congress and with the support and advocacy of JDCA members across the country, they will be re-elected in November.”
The latest JDCA endorsees are as follows:
– Rep. Jahana Hayes (D-CT)
– Rep. Bill Foster (D-IL)
– Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI)
– Rep. Kathy Manning (D-NC)
– Rep. Chris Pappas (D-NH)
