Jewish Dems Reject Republican Pandering at GOP Debate
WASHINGTON – Following tonight’s Republican presidential debate co-hosted by the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement:
“Despite their ineffective pandering to Jewish Americans at tonight’s GOP debate, Republicans cannot change the fact that the overwhelming majority of Jewish voters have been – and will remain – pro-Israel, pro-Biden, Democratic voters, whom we’re proud to represent. By contrast, the Republican Jewish Coalition represents a small minority block of misguided Jewish voters.
“For decades, nearly three-quarters of Jewish voters have supported Democrats because the Democratic Party aligns with Jewish values on every issue, including – but not limited to – Israel and antisemitism. At the same time, the GOP has attacked our democracy, abortion access, equality, and our security by emboldening right-wing extremists. Days after the worst massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust, the head of the Republican Party – Donald Trump – mocked Israel and praised terrorists threatening Israel. The GOP’s policies on nearly every issue are antithetical to Jewish American values.
“Tonight’s debate was a cynical attempt by Republicans to use Israel to score cheap political points. It was also a stark reminder that the Democratic Party has been and will remain the political home of the vast majority of American Jews.”
