Jewish Dems Reject Amnesty Claim of Genocide

December 6, 2024

WASHINGTON – Following the release of a report from Amnesty International wrongly accusing Israel of genocide, Halie Soifer, CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), responded:

“JDCA rejects Amnesty International’s accusation that Israel’s conduct in Gaza constitutes genocide. Israel has a right to defend its people against the ongoing threat posed by Hamas, Hezbollah, and other Iranian proxies.

“We stand with Israel in the aftermath of the horrific acts of terror perpetrated by Hamas on October 7, and as Hamas continues to hold more than 100 Israeli, American, and other hostages in Gaza. We also support efforts to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians and the flow of humanitarian assistance in Gaza.

“The Biden-Harris administration this week affirmed that ‘allegations of genocide [in Gaza] are unfounded.’ JDCA joins the administration in rejecting the findings of Amnesty International’s report. We call on the international community to heed President Biden’s example by standing with the Israeli people and advocating for a ceasefire that includes the release of all hostages.”
