Jewish Dems Oppose Senator Paul Effort to Block Aid to Israel
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) strongly opposes Senator Rand Paul’s hold on the U.S.-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018.
“Jewish Dems oppose Senator Paul’s effort to block aid to Israel. The legislation Senator Paul is holding formalizes the ten-year, $38 billion Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the United States and Israel agreed to in 2016. There is strong bipartisan support for the MOU, which is not only in Israel’s security interest, but also that of the United States. The U.S.-Israel relationship is mutually beneficial, and addresses shared national security interests. Republicans should stand with Democrats in opposing this obstructionist and damaging effort by Senator Paul, and allow the U.S.-Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018 to move forward without further delay.”
