Jewish Dems Mobilize California Voters Against Recall

September 10, 2021

WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) PAC is leading the Jewish community’s advocacy ahead of California’s September 14 election, to get out the vote in opposition to the Republican-led effort to recall Governor Gavin Newsom.

Building off of the organization’s successful grassroots efforts in the 2020 campaign, Georgia Senate runoffs, and in last month’s OH-11 special election, JDCA PAC is mobilizing Jewish voters across the state of California to defeat the recall. Specifically, JDCA PAC is targeting more than 200,000 high propensity Jewish voters with phone banks, text banks, emails, and a digital ad campaign consisting of OpenWeb and Facebook ads.

JDCA PAC is the only national Jewish organization engaged in this race and the only organization specifically dedicated to mobilizing Jewish voters across the state of California. With polls showing a close race, JDCA PAC’s work is even more essential.

JDCA PAC’s ads and engagement efforts inform voters about how, where and when to cast their ballots for the recall, urging them to vote NO. They also focus on opposing the coalition of anti-vaxxers, QAnon conspiracy theorists and right-wing extremists advocating for the recall.

“From the 2020 campaign through the OH-11 special election, JDCA PAC has established itself as a key player in Democratic electoral politics. In California, we’re using the same targeted strategy of mobilizing Jewish voters to shape the outcome of this election. Jews vote, they largely vote for Democrats, and they strongly oppose right-wing extremists. There are hundreds of thousands of Jewish voters in California, and they are absolutely critical to defeating this recall,” said Halie Soifer, CEO of JDCA.
