Jewish Dems Launch Georgia Campaign

November 19, 2020

WASHINGTON – Today, the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) kicked off its Georgia campaign with a new ad and website laying out what is at stake in the Georgia run-offs that will determine which party controls the Senate.

JDCA Executive Director Halie Soifer said:

“We are proud of the fact that more than three-quarters of Jewish voters supported Joe Biden, and served as an essential component of the coalition that ensured his historic victory. We are confident that Georgia’s more than 100,000 Jewish voters will prove vital to the effort to keep Georgia blue and help to secure victories for Rev. Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff on January 5. These candidates share our values, and a Democratic-controlled Senate will help ensure President Biden will successfully deliver for the American people in his first term. Winning these two seats would also further the issues of importance to Jewish voters including mitigating the public health and economic crises, ensuring access to affordable health care, combatting anti-Semitism and extremism, addressing climate change, and enacting gun violence prevention measures.

“We reject the racist attacks against Rev. Warnock and anti-Semitic attack against Jon Ossoff. We know they will both continue to be strong supporters of the Jewish community and of Israel. The values held by Rev. Warnock and Jon Ossoff stand in stark contrast to the self-serving corruption of Sens. Loeffler and Perdue, who have enabled Donald Trump and emulated his use of hatred for political purposes. We are proud of the fact that Jon Ossoff is a member of our community, and that Rev. Warnock believes that faith and action must go hand-in-hand in serving the American people, and we strongly support each of them in their bid for the Senate.”

JDCA today also launched a new Georgia election hub website with information on the Georgia Senate candidates’ stances on key issues of importance to Jewish voters and ways to get involved. In addition to the ad, JDCA is organizing phone and text banking and other opportunities for volunteers to get involved in the Georgia campaign.
