Jewish Dems Endorse 20 Candidates Committed to Ensuring Abortion Access

June 30, 2022

“The strongest defense against Republicans’ assault on reproductive freedom is electing Democrats who support abortion access,” says JDCA CEO Halie Soifer

WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), the national voice of Jewish Democrats, today endorsed in 20 key races across the country. JDCA’s newest group of endorsees, which brings the organization’s total 2022 endorsements to 81, consists of 17 House candidates challenging Republican incumbents, one Senate candidate challenger, one House incumbent, and an incumbent governor. These endorsements represent several pickup opportunities where the JDCA-endorsed candidate is in a strong position to compete against a Republican incumbent.  Additionally, they are all running in races where Jewish voters will have an impact on the outcome of the election. Finally, they all share the commitment of Jewish voters to protecting abortion access and reproductive rights.

As the only national organization solely dedicated to mobilizing Jewish voters in support of Democrats, JDCA will play an essential role in amplifying the voices of the overwhelming majority of Jewish Americans, 83% of whom believe that abortion should be legal.

“Voters have a choice in November between either Republican extremists attacking our rights and democracy, or Democrats committed to our democratic institutions, gun safety, and reproductive rights. The strongest defense against Republicans’ assault on reproductive freedom is electing Democrats who support abortion access. By endorsing these 20 Democrats, 18 of whom are challenging sitting Republicans, JDCA is representing the views of the overwhelming majority of Jewish voters, who will play a critical role in ensuring Democrats win in November,” said JDCA CEO Halie Soifer.

“The Supreme Court’s interference with our basic rights and defense of reproductive freedom, gun safety, combating climate change and religious freedom does not just run contrary to what we stand for as Americans, but is a direct affront to the values and priorities of Jewish voters,” said JDCA Chair Ron Klein. “We are focused on turning out the Jewish vote where it can have the largest impact and making clear that Republicans who attack our most basic rights will pay the price for their extremism at the ballot box in the midterms.”
