Jewish Dems Demand United Front Against Antisemitism
WASHINGTON – Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement in response to increased antisemitism manifesting itself online and via in-person harassment and physical attacks in recent weeks
“With the startling rise of antisemitic attacks in recent weeks, it’s clear the battle for the soul of our nation continues. There is no excuse or justification for incidents of vandalism, violence, or verbal or physical harassment of Jews. We unequivocally condemn all acts of antisemitism, and call for it to come to an immediate end. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict should never be used as a pretext for hatred, and it’s appalling that antisemitic incidents have increased by more than 60% in the past two weeks, according to the ADL.
“We applaud President Biden, Vice President Harris, Senate Majority Leader Schumer, House Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Hoyer, and so many other Democrats for their unequivocal condemnations of antisemitism. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) deeply offensive Holocaust references require more than condemnations. Republicans must stop emboldening, enabling, and aligning with right-wing extremists, and stop using both Israel and antisemitism as political wedge issues.”
