Jewish Dems Condemn Trump’s “Bloodlines” Statement and Issue New Ad: “We Can’t Risk Four More Years of Donald Trump”

May 22, 2020

WASHINGTON – Following President Trump’s reference yesterday to Henry Ford’s “good bloodlines,” the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) released a new ad that concludes “we can’t risk four more years of Donald Trump” and Executive Director Halie Soifer issued the following statement:

“Yesterday in Michigan, President Trump praised Henry Ford, a known anti-Semite awarded the Nazi Party’s Grand Cross of the German Eagle, using Nazi terminology to describe Ford and his descendants. Lauding Ford’s ‘good bloodlines,’ President Trump echoed a concept used by Hitler to target and massacre Jews during the Holocaust.

“Neo-Nazis and white supremacists hear the President’s message of solidarity loud and clear. Once again, he’s emboldening, legitimizing, and strengthening their hateful movement, which has directly contributed to an unprecedented rise of anti-Semitism in the past year. We said it before and will say it again – President Trump is the biggest threat to American Jews.

“We condemn the president’s alignment with hate in the strongest possible terms, just as we condemn the silence of officials such as Michigan Senate candidate John James who stood by as the president made this horrific statement. We call on the Republican Jewish Coalition to condemn President Trump for his recklessness and dangerous comments, which have made our community less secure.”

Today, JDCA released a new ad that demonstrates the danger of Trump’s presidency given the dramatic rise of anti-Semitism and affirms “we can’t risk four more years.” The ad blames Trump for Jews’ rising insecurity and features Trump calling armed protestors in Lansing, Michigan “very fine people,” just as he called neo-Nazis in Charlottesville “very fine people.”
