Jewish Dems Condemn False, Divisive Attacks on Warnock

December 21, 2020
WASHINGTON – Following another spate of falsehoods about Georgia Senate runoff candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock, Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement:

“Jewish Dems stand firmly behind Georgia Senate candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock, and condemn in the strongest possible terms the false attacks leveled against him by Republicans and Senator Kelly Loeffler. These attacks are clearly designed to divide the Jewish community through fear-mongering and to distract from Loeffler’s deplorable record of emboldening right-wing extremists.

“Loeffler warmly accepted the endorsement of Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the antisemitic QAnon supporters elected to Congress last month. In addition, Loeffler recently defended a TV host tied to white supremacy and neo-Nazi conspiracy theories, and posed for a photo with Chester Doles, a former KKK leader who runs the white supremacist American Patriots USA.

“Loeffler has spoken at Rev. Warnock’s church, which makes it hard to take her attacks on Warnock seriously. Indeed, many of her attacks have been deemed false by non-partisan fact checkers. Loeffler also claims she had no knowledge of the white supremacists she repeatedly posed with, making her attacks even more disingenuous.

“Jewish voters in Georgia have a stark choice in the election: Kelly Loeffler, a corrupt incumbent who emboldens antisemites, or Rev. Raphael Warnock, who is squarely aligned with – and wants to defend – our community.

Rev. Warnock opposes antisemitism, racism, hatred and extremism in all its forms. He opposes the global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel. He supports President Obama’s record-setting 10-year $38 billion aid package to Israel. He opposes cutting or conditioning aid to Israel, and opposes a nuclear-armed Iran. An overwhelming number of Jewish Americans share these views, and we are confident that as a U.S. senator, he will be a strong ally of Israel.”For more information on JDCA’s policy positions, its strategy around the 2020 election, or to speak with Halie Soifer, contact [email protected].
