Jewish Dems Celebrate Speaker Pelosi’s Unparalleled Legacy

WASHINGTON – In response to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement that she will not seek a position in House leadership in the new Congress, Ron Klein, Board Chair of the Jewish Democratic Council of America, released the following statement:

“With a record of trailblazing accomplishment that will be felt for generations, Speaker Nancy Pelosi departs congressional leadership as the most impactful House speaker in American history. A key partner to Jewish Dems, Speaker Pelosi has addressed and inspired our grassroots supporters on several occasions, as recently as October.

“Her advocacy was crucial to helping President Obama pass the Affordable Care Act, standing up to the dangerous efforts of the Trump administration to undermine our values, and ensuring passage of critical gun safety, climate, and infrastructure legislation. During her decades of leadership, Speaker Pelosi has stood for justice and fought for our shared values. It was an honor to serve under her leadership.

“As we salute her years of service, which will continue in her capacity as a member of Congress, we recognize that Jewish Americans have had few greater allies than Speaker Pelosi.
