Jewish Dems Applaud Resolution on Antisemitism, Call for Action from Republicans Against White Supremacy
WASHINGTON – In response to the passage of H.Res.1125, condemning the rise in antisemitism, Halie Soifer, Jewish Democratic Council of America CEO, released the following statement:
“Jewish Dems welcome the passage of H.Res.1125, a resolution condemning rising antisemitism, which overwhelmingly passed in the House earlier today. We’re grateful for the leadership of Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Brad Schneider and many other Democrats who led the passage of this important resolution. At the same time, written condemnation and repudiation of antisemitism must be matched with meaningful action by all elected officials.
“Republicans echoing the racist, antisemitic ‘Great Replacement Theory’ – or looking the other way as members of their party do so – are complicit in this increasingly dangerous form of hatred. Republicans cannot have it both ways – voting for a resolution on the one hand, and allowing members of their party and leadership to spew hate on the other. It is past time for Republicans to fully condemn and commit to combating extremism and white supremacy, which are the greatest threats facing Jewish Americans and others.”
