Jewish Dems Applaud Latest Biden Administration Nominations
WASHINGTON – Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) CEO Halie Soifer released the following statement applauding President-elect Joe Biden’s nominations to key roles in the Department of Justice and the State Department.
“The nominations announced by President-elect Biden today signal that a Biden administration is committed to ensuring the security, rights, and freedoms of all Americans. At a time of national crisis, President-Elect Biden has chosen exemplary nominees to bring our nation out of the current darkness.
“Merrick Garland is an inspired and highly qualified choice for Attorney General, who will help to build back an agency that under Donald Trump has enabled gross abuses of power. Along with long time civil rights champions Vanita Gupta as Associate Attorney General, Kristen Clarke as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, as well as Lisa Monaco as Deputy Attorney General, we are confident that this is the best and brightest team to lead our nation’s law enforcement.
“We’re are equally thrilled by the appointment of career diplomat Wendy Sherman to serve as Deputy Secretary of State. As the lead negotiator of the JCPOA, she masterfully navigated treacherous waters to ensure the safety and security of the United States and Israel. Ambassador Sherman shares our Jewish values and remains committed to working alongside Secretary of State nominee Tony Blinken to restore a strategic, thoughtful approach to U.S. foreign policy that demonstrates the U.S. is ready to resume its global leadership role.”
