Jewish Democrats Warmly Welcome Pres. Herzog’s Visit to Washington
WASHINGTON – This week, Israeli President Isaac Herzog will visit Washington, D.C. During the visit, he will meet with President Biden, Vice President Harris, Secretary of State Blinken, and other high-ranking Democratic officials. In addition, he will address a joint session of Congress.
In anticipation of President Herzog’s visit, Halie Soifer, CEO of the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) released the following statement:
“JDCA warmly welcomes President Herzog’s visit to Washington this week and applauds his leadership, which epitomizes the strong ties between the United States and Israel. Democrats, including President Biden and Democratic Leadership in Congress, share President Herzog’s vision for the unbreakable bond between our two countries. We agree with the statement issued by House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Whip Katherine Clark, Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar, and Vice Chair Ted Lieu, and reiterate that ‘government officials come and go. The special relationship between the United States and Israel will endure. We are determined to make sure support for Israel in Congress remains strongly bipartisan.’
“We are particularly looking forward to President Herzog’s address to a joint session of Congress and the warm reception he’ll receive in the House and Senate. We are proud that the vast and overwhelming majority of Democrats share our steadfast commitment to Israel’s security and will ensure this continues now and in the future. We emphatically reject the notion that Israel is a racist state and agree with Democratic leadership’s rejection of this falsehood.
“We strongly agree with President Biden – President Herzog’s visit will highlight the ‘enduring partnership and friendship’ that exists between the United States and Israel as it celebrates its 75th year of independence.”
