Jewish Democrats Endorse Joe Biden for President of the United States

April 24, 2020

WASHINGTON – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), the voice of Jewish Democrats and only national organization combining Jewish values advocacy with a Democratic political agenda, today announced its endorsement of Joe Biden.

JDCA’s endorsement comes in the form of a letter signed by its national Board of Directors, detailing how Vice President Biden shares their values and views on issues that matter to Jewish Americans and drive the Jewish vote, including ensuring access to affordable health care and education; promoting equality and social justice; combating the rise of anti-Semitism, discrimination and hatred; protecting democratic institutions and the right to vote; supporting the U.S.-Israel relationship, a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and Israel’s right to self-defense; mitigating the impact of climate change; and furthering the rights of women and minorities.

The endorsement letter (which can be read in full here) states:

“You have fought against bigotry and discrimination, and to end the epidemic of gun violence that plagues our nation. You have led the advancement of our national security through a strong and principled foreign policy. Despite your own personal challenges, you have always put the interests of the American people first. You have repeatedly demonstrated unwavering leadership in times of progress and in times of hardship, such as the unprecedented public health crisis facing us now.”

JDCA today also released its third ad of the campaign cycle. Building on JDCA’s last ad, which asserted that “Donald Trump is the biggest threat to the security of American Jews,” this ad connects Trump’s tacit support for white nationalists marching in Charlottesville to extremists protesting social-distancing measures displaying swastikas and Confederate flags in Michigan last week. The ad says that “Donald Trump’s emboldening of white nationalism has been the biggest threat to American Jews. Now it’s clear he doesn’t have the character to keep all Americans safe or to put the country first.” Pointing to Trump’s failure to demonstrate responsibility, accountability, truth and leadership, the ad concludes, “we can elect a true leader who shares our values, Joe Biden.”

JDCA is also circulating a similar letter for its supporters to pledge their support of Joe Biden, which will be used to demonstrate grassroots support for Biden among American Jews. Those who sign the letter will be invited to a special call on Tuesday, April 28, at 3:00 p.m. ET with senior surrogates from the Biden campaign. More details to come; media interested in tuning in to the call should RSVP to [email protected].
